As
you probably know by now, London is like my second home. I don’t think there’s
ever a month, or a two-week period that goes by without that 2hour 14 minute
journey from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston. But this time we’d booked
the lush Zetter Townhouse for a change from the average stay.
Walking
up to the beautiful townhouse, we recognised from the outside this wasn’t going
to be just an average two-night stay in London. Clerkenwell itself seemed like a
small suburb compared to the busier areas of London. The pastel blue door was
almost non-recognisable as a hotel, just the italicised name across the front
in black writing gave it away – no mammoth branding or signs to be seen.
On entering
the building it was like attending an old-English Mad Hatters tea party. Quirky
prints filled the walls like a game or tetris, furniture cluttered the wooden
flooring in different fabrics and shapes, whilst tassel light fixtures hung from
the ceiling. We knew we were in for a treat, just from dodging through the sea
of people in the reception enjoying spectacular cocktails!
Finding
out we’d been upgraded to The Townhouse Suite, we couldn’t wait to get to our
room. Fumbling down the terracotta hallway, we came to our home for the next
two nights. The suite was an exceptional size, divided into two separate rooms
consisting of the bedroom area (which included a four-poster bed) and a living
room, complete with an open minibar – score! With oak triple wardrobes lining
the walls, a plush velvet huge sofa and a sound system that filled the room
with relaxing tracks from Frank Sinatra, I must admit I did spend most of my
time in here especially when we needed to work for a few hours. The suite
definitely beat any Starbucks or Pret we could find haha.
Now
the bed was something else which, almost filing one half of the room! Dressed
perfectly in white sheets with a stripe throw fitting with the interior of the
room, it was just as comfy as it looks. You can tell everything had been
considered in this room, down the catch door on the bedroom and bathroom
wall.
Attached
to the bedroom was a bathroom complete with a marble huge bath, which was
exceptional after a long day in London. White and black tiles lined the wall with a
1920s Art Deco vibe – almost identical to the bathroom at my parents old house.
All
in all our two-night stay was exceptional, from the super friendly staff who
would bring tea of coffee to the room,
to the beautiful interior of the building, I would highly recommend
staying at The Zetter Townhouse in London, Clerkenwell.
